Meet Sophie and Bowie.
You might have heard her on radio @class95fm, she might even have been your afternoon companion as you run mid-day errands or even pick the kids up from school. It's Sophie from Bibs, Babble & Babytalk and her charming eldest of two, Bowie.
We had the pleasure of being welcomed into their lovely home to find out a little more about how Sophie balances being a fitness mama of two on top of her busy schedule. Read on to find out more.
Q: Juggling full-time parenting is no easy feat. That coupled with daily airtime on the radio, and a minimum of 4 times a week workout regime, how do you do it? Or are you actually superwoman in disguise?
A: Scheduling, scheduling, scheduling! I schedule anything I have to do for work or my workouts, and that way I am focused and ready to get it done to the best of my abilities. This makes sure that when I am in mom mode, I am present.
Also, I just want to add that personal time is so, so important for our wellbeing as mamas, and so that we can be our best selves for the kids.
Mamas our there, you've heard her! Remember to check in on your own needs and set personal time for you to reset and recenter. We all need a little break time to time.
Q: Bonding time is so important. What is your favourite activity with the girls?
A: My fav activity with them at the moment is making milo! Seems so simple but they love it and the ritual is boiling the water...measuring out the milo ...adding ice and then a straw! They love it!
Our takeaways from the session:
Sometimes when we get really busy and there is so much on our minds, it might be easy to rush into checking off the to-do list. Most of time, this ends up in a really disorganised and unfulfilling session on top of a frazzled state of mind. Perhaps the next time we feel that way, we should take a moment to check in, structure and prioritise the events of the day before diving into it.
For us, another thing we've found really helpful is to start our day with a fixed routine. A glass of water and a half hour yoga/meditation session. Followed by preparing a simple breakfast, it could be something as easy as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It really gets our engines revving, plus it sets the tone for the rest of the day.
What about you, how do you go about your day?
